DBT focuses on 4 key modules:
Mindfulness
Emotion Regulation
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Distress Tolerance
DBT consists of therapy, skills training, coaching, and behavior analysis. This form of therapy focuses on the biosocial theory of emotion regulation, as well as tactile skills that can be applied within the day-to-day routine to assist the client with cultivating a balance between self-validation and skills utilization so as to promote change in behavior and quality of life. These opposing views represent the coined dynamic of “dialectics” which means that two opposing perspectives can be true at the same time.
As a DBT therapist, I am well equipped to treat anxiety, depression, addiction, borderline personality disorders, as well as various disorders which may cause severe emotional dysregulation. Treatment objectives are achieved by using a combination of psychotherapy, dialectics, and a balanced perspective.
